A kiloparsec (symbol: kpc) is one thousand parsecs, a unit of distance used to measure the distance between galactic bodies. 1 kiloparsec = 1000 parsecs = 3260 light years.
A variant of the point, equal to 0.3759 mm, or 1/72 of a French Royal inch (27.07 mm), or about 1/68 inch. Didot points are used in Europe. This unit is named after the French printer François Ambroise Didot (1730 - 1804) who defined the "point-based" typographical measurement system.
In relation to the base unit of [length] => (meters), 1 Kiloparsecs (kpc) is equal to 3.086E+19 meters, while 1 Didot Points (didot point) = 0.000375972222 meters.1300 Kiloparsecs | to common length units |
